Heapstack LLC ("we", "our", or "us") built Pingta as a free app. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our app and the choices you have associated with that data.
1. Information We Collect
Pingta is designed with privacy in mind. We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:
1.1 Data You Provide Directly
- Speed test server configurations you create or import.
- Custom DNS servers or hosts you enter for lookup.
This data is stored entirely on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.
1.2 Data Collected Automatically
- Crash reports & diagnostics — If you have enabled "Share with App Developers" in iOS Settings, Apple may share anonymized crash data with us. We receive no personally identifiable information from these reports.
- App analytics — We use Apple's built-in App Store analytics to understand aggregate usage trends (e.g., session counts, feature adoption). No individual-level data is shared with us.
We do not embed third-party analytics SDKs (e.g., Firebase, Mixpanel) in Pingta.
1.3 Network Diagnostic Data
When you run diagnostics, Pingta sends network packets (ICMP pings, DNS queries, TCP connections) to the hosts you specify. This traffic is a direct result of your actions and is not logged or stored by us. All results are displayed on your device only.
2. How We Use Information
We use crash reports solely to identify and fix bugs. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.
3. Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to third parties. We may disclose information only when required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Heapstack LLC and its users.
4. Data Retention & Deletion
All user-generated data (servers, history, settings) lives on your device. You can delete the app at any time to remove all locally stored data. We hold no server-side copy of your data.
5. Children's Privacy
Pingta is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.
6. Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect the app. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Third-Party Services
When you use network tools within Pingta, you may interact with third-party servers (e.g., DNS resolvers, speed test endpoints). These services are governed by their own privacy policies. We expressly disclaim responsibility for their data practices.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
